Famous Japanese dancer Min Tanaka returns to Archa after a long hiatus to perform a duet with Rin Ishihara. As a representative of the world dance avantgarde, Min Tanaka is a frequent guest of renowned arts institutions. He recently created together with jazz pianist Cecil Taylor a series of performances for the new building of the Whitney Museum in New york. Prague audiences have the unique opportunity to continually follow his creative work. Together with musician John Cale, he created a performance for the grand opening of the Archa Theatre, where Tanaka has been regularly appearing ever since. For next year he is preparing choreography for Archa with Czech dancers and performers.

Auditions for a new project of Min Tanaka.
Japanese dancer and choreographer Min Tanaka is preparing a new project at the Archa Theatre, Prague.
For this project the Archa Theatre is looking for artists regardless of age and their artistic focus. Auditions will take the form of individual meetings with Min Tanaka of approximately 20 minutes. Participants will prepare a short sample of their work in 1-5 minutes in length. It can be dance, performance art, poetry, art installations etc. Improvisation is not accepted.
Thematic entry: ” My Present Moment.”
The condition of the presentation is expression of active attitude towards social, political and environmental problems of today’s world.
When: from Tuesday, December 13 to Friday, December 16
2016 Where: Archa Theatre [Na Porici 26, Prague 1]
The project will be rehearsed during April and May 2017 in the Archa Theatre.

About the film ”Hokaibito: Ina no Seigetsu”:
With documentary and fiction interwoven, the film depicts mysterious life of a vagabond haiku poet Seigetsu Inoue, who spent his last 30 years in Inadani, Shishu. In the end of Edo period to the beginning of Meiji era, he drifted from home to home and occasion to occasion in the area writing a haiku poem in return for a night’s lodging and a meal. While the western culture slowly but steadily reaching to the remote villages, he died a dog’s death. Through his 1800 haiku poems, his life reappears in the film crossing over modern times and the past.

8月4日（木）より相模原市にあります、女子美術大学美術館にて写真家:田原桂一と女子美術大学の現役学生による「競作展覧会」を開催する。通常、作家の展示と美大生の制作展とは分けられている事が多い中、実験的ではあるが、田原桂一の強い希望により、現役美大生とアーティストによる競作展覧会として発表する。田原の新作の他に、代表作『窓』『ポラロイド』『Torse』も展示される。
関連イベントの中で田中泯とのコラボレーションを開催いたします。

連続ドラマW「グーグーだって猫である２-good good the fortune cat-」

1968年の漫画家デビューから数多くのヒット作を生み出してきた少女漫画界の巨星・大島弓子。彼女が1996年から連載を始めた自伝的コミックエッセイ「グーグーだって猫である」(全6巻)は、2008年の映画化に続き、2014年にはWOWOWで連続ドラマ化され、同年11月度ギャラクシー賞月間賞などに輝いた。
約2年の歳月を経て、連続ドラマWに「グーグーだって猫である」が帰ってくる。主演の宮沢りえ、そして長塚圭史、黒木華、田中泯の豪華キャストが再集結する。さらにアシスタント役に前田敦子、刑事役にイッセー尾形、麻子の同級生役に西田尚美という個性的かつ魅力あふれるキャストが加わる。続編では、前作では描き切れなかった、“グーグーと過ごした15年8カ月間”に起きた出来事を原作の設定をもとにして構築、前作のファンのみならず、今作から見る人も楽しめるオリジナルストーリーとなっている。
本公演は、ご本人の体調不良により延期となりました。

1978年から1980年の3年間にかけてダンサー・田中泯氏とともに試みた「光と身体」の関係性についてのフォトセッションである。
1978年10月、パリ・フェスティバル・ドートンヌ(パリ秋季芸術祭) 「日本の『間』展覧会」(会場：ルーブル装飾美術館/プロデュ-ス：磯崎新・武満徹）からこのプロジェクトは始まった。まだパリで「窓」の作品を撮り続けている最中、私が27歳、泯さんが33歳の時だった。光によって、見るという行為やそれに伴う感情が如何に翻弄されるか、そんな事ばかりを考えていた時期であった。「身体気象」という言葉が私たちを結びつけた。まさに光と身体が出会う瞬間である。私の写真行為のなかでこのプロジェクトは「対象」と「主題」が渾然と入り混じった実に不思議な3年間であった。
パリ、ローマ、ニューヨーク、アイスランド、ボルドー、東京、九十九里浜、秋川渓谷等、様々な都市のもと、そして大自然の中、異なった光や大気や季節の中で、ダンサーの身体がどのように反応して行くのか、あるいはただ単に人間の皮膚が神経がその触手を光の中にどのようにのばして行くのか。
フランス・ボルドーに残っている旧ドイツ軍が建造したUボートの潜水艦基地。空爆に耐えられるコンクリートの塊で覆われた巨大な器。複雑な光と記憶が交錯する空間のなかで誰一人観る人もなく光と身体が絡み合っていく。アイスランド、6月、白夜の季節、地熱地帯を昼と夜の境目も定かではなく車で次々と撮影場所を求めて走り回り続けた。沈むことのない太陽、地面は熱を帯びて黒々と光り輝き、静寂だけが我々の周りにあった。シャッターを切る音とフイルムを巻き上げる音だけが、歩を進めて行った。
35年間、何故か放置されていたが、我々二人にとって今まさに原点回帰となる作品である。

Trained in classical ballet and modern dance, Tanaka was active as a modern dancer around 1960s. He then came to be skeptical of the culture and the dance “industry” that were class-bound identity, vis-à-vis post-World War II society. In 1974, he started his own activities, and evolved “hyper-dance,” emphasizing psycho-physical unity of the body. In pursuit for his own dance further more, he distanced himself from the dance market in Japan. However at the same time, his expression activities lead to numerous collaborations with intellectuals and visual artists around the world and forged a major cultural impact on the contemporary art and cultural community at that time. His dance in the very early days will be shown in a photobook by the photographer Keiichi Tahara, for the first time long after over 30 years.

These photos come from multiple photo sessions I conducted between 1978-1980 with the dancer Min Tanaka, exploring the relationship between physical light and the human body.
This project started at the “MA-Space/Time in Japan” Exhibition which took place at the Paris Autumn Festival in October, 1978. Back then, I had been taking pictures for the “Fenêtre” collection. I was 27 and Min was 33.
How does light affect perception? What about emotions? I was obsessed with these questions at that time. The idea of “Body Weather” brought Min and I together. This depicts the pivotal moment where meditations on physical light met the art form of the human body. The project turned out to be a fascinating three years blurring the lines between the object and subject matter of art.
We experimented with various types of light, ambiences and seasons. The locale was broad, ranging from the metropolitan to the natural; Paris, Rome, New York, Iceland, Bordeaux, Tokyo, Kujuu-Kurihama and Akikawa-Keikoku. The motive was to observe how a dancer’s body adapts to outer stimuli, or to rephrase it: a human body reaching into the light with its raw skin and nerve endings.
In Bordeaux, France lie the remains of a U-boat pen built by the Germans in the Second World War. It resembles an enormous vessel covered with chunks of concrete to assure protection against air attacks. Slivers of light and recollection interweave in this vast unmanned space, where a solitary human body entwines with the light.
In June, the season of the midnight sun, we had been endlessly driving through the geothermal areas of Iceland in search of a good place for a photo shoot. Days bled into nights. The sun never went down. The glistening black ground and intense tranquility enclosed on us. The camera clicking and rewinding film were the only sounds accompanying our steps.
Although this work has been nearly abandoned for the past 35 years, today it holds special meaning to the both of us in revisiting our creative starting points.

The sun never went down. The glistening black ground and intense tranquility enclosed on us. The camera clicking and rewinding film were the only sounds accompanying our steps.
Although this work has been nearly abandoned for the past 35 years, today it holds special meaning to the both of us in revisiting our creative starting points.
